Regaining Wireless Internet Connection Speed

Cables used to improve signal speed.

Several things can adversely affect your wireless internet accessibility. Therefore, the solutions also try to eliminate the underlying causes of the issue. Here are some ways to fix wireless connectivity issues, and thereby, get the internet connection out of that slow path. Note that we will only cover equipment solutions here. This means if your issue’s underlying cause is something not technical, you might need other solutions. For instance, if the router location is to blame for it, you might need to move it to a central position.

Which Equipments To Buy For Better Internet Connection

Wireless Range Extender

There are different solutions for you to pick from, but a range extender is the least sophisticated product of them all. It should be plugged into an electrical outlet around midway between the modem of yours and the specific point to which the wireless signal should be delivered. The device can pick up and amplify the signal, carrying it to a fairly big distance and providing you with better coverage at home. It works with the existing residential broadband network, so the sign-in credentials will be the same, and you will not have any ‘switching over’ task to perform.

The product named ‘wireless signal booster’ is slightly different from the extender, but it has more or less the same function. If you need something slightly pricey and more functional, look for tri-band wireless extenders.

Powerline Kit

This is a different solution available in the market for you. The device comes with two adapters, and it will move the data around through electrical cables. You should connect one adapter to a wall outlet, and then tether it to your router’s or modem’s LAN port through a quality Ethernet cable. Then, you have to plug the other adapter to a different wall outlet, situated around the electronic device you need to connect to your network.

A ‘powerline kit’ may seem a better device than a wireless signal booster, but it works according to the extent of electrical cabling at home. Each end of it should be at a particular distance of one another, which is usually about 100 feet. This may not appear to be a considerable distance, but it depends on the way in which your residence is cabled. You would be pleasantly surprised at the extent of cabling that lurks behind those interior walls.
